Description: During the 5-day international campus, participants will cultivate advanced knowledge and gain skills in the fields of performance, cultural management and social activism. They will increase their awareness in and through the theater, via rehearsals and performance. Focus will be placed on teamwork and the collectivity, as well as on the individual responsibility of each participant for the process. A jury of three members, including the audience vote, will decide the winner of the Performance Competition of partner schools.

Description of Virtual Component: The event will be live-streamed on the Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico”’s youtube channel; participating schools will also briefly present their projects during an online preparatory meeting.

 

RULES

  • Each drama school may propose one project only;
  • Groups are to present shows created and realized in a totally independent, unsupervised manner by current students (actors and directors) of the school. Please note that this means that the projects presented may not be works developed in any way during classes or independent studies with the school’s instructors.
  • Presence of every member of the group for the whole period is mandatory, as the Young Theatre festival aims to create an international campus where young artists share and compare their skills;
  • Each group must not exceed 5 participants in Spoleto; this includes director, actors, and any designers, artists, or crew – for example: 1 director, 2 actors, 1 musician, 1 lighting designer/operator;
  • The project must be realized according to the fixed and unchangeable lighting plot and to the technical plan of the performance space (plans attached here);
  • The performance must last no longer than 30 minutes (if run time exceeds 35 minutes, the show will be excluded from competition for the prize);
  • Load-in, rehearsal, strike: three hours for each group at the Sala Frau on the day of the performance;
  • Synopses of the performance are to be detailed in the show description;

·         Each participant (including any teachers or technicians) must also attach a profile photo, jpeg format, max 300 kb;

  • Subtitles or captions in English (made with the program glypheo) are recommended and should be sent to the Accademia by June 7th for necessary technical arrangements;
  • each group will hold a short discussion of the show immediately following the performance;
  • projects will be selected by a committee including representatives of the Accademia and the Festival di Spoleto by May 16th.
  • An online meeting will be held on May 12th to briefly present the project and answer any questions of the Institutions who wish to take part in the festival. It will be the responsibility of the school secretary to provide the link to connect to the online meeting;
  • 3 ects will be assigned to each student participating in the competition according to BIP Programme rules;

 

COMPETITION AND AWARDS

A jury consisting of the director of the Spoleto Festival or a delegate (one vote), a theater or theater education personality (one vote), and the audience (one vote) will award the winning groups with a monetary prize.

First prize:1.200 euro

Second prize: 500 euro

(the prizes may be awarded ex aequo)

Prizes are subject to taxation in accordance with Italian law, with a 30% withholding tax applied, pursuant to Article 25 of Presidential Decree 600/73, unless the winner is already a tax resident elsewhere and wishes to avail themselves of the bilateral double taxation treaty, in which case, to avoid taxation, they must submit a tax certificate issued by the tax authority of their country of residence.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

The Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico” will provide:

accommodations for the performing groups, from July 7 (arrival) to July 12 (departure).

DATES ARE SUBJECT TO SLIGHT MODIFICATION

 

Up to 4 school will be asked to join the Blended Intensive Programme of Erasmus+ Project according to Erasmus Programme Regulation. If more apply, the other schools’ accommodations will be paid for with Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico” budget funds. (BIP Call is attached)

The participating institution will cover the expenses for:

travel to and from Spoleto, local transport, meals, expenses for props and all that is not included in the technical plans of Sala Frau (attached).

The Accademia will provide accommodation for 5 student representatives of the project. Any other colleague’s expenses must be covered by the participating school.
