Master\u2019s Programme in Performing Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n

as Critical Practice with a social focus\u00a0<\/strong>(120\u00a0ECT)<\/p>\n

starting in Autumn 2023<\/p>\n

The\u00a0two-year, practice-based master\u2019s programme brings together contemporary performing arts practices with critical reflection and social engagement. To help students initiate alliances and collaborations during their studies, Malm\u00f6 Theatre Academy has established partnerships with a diverse range of art institutions, societal stakeholders and artistic communities.<\/p>\n

Artists working in theatre, dance and performance are welcome to apply.<\/p>\n

This visionary program will prepare students of the performing arts to engage aesthetically, critically, and institutionally with the most important social issues of our time. It offers a brilliant and timely course of study.<\/em><\/p>\n

We welcome applicants from a diversity of backgrounds,\u00a0who are\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

– interested to develop their artistic practices in a supportive context of research-led study;<\/p>\n

– motivated to engage imaginatively with urgent social and political issues;<\/p>\n

– curious to explore new artistic and reflective strategies and methodologies;<\/p>\n

– open to (un)learn, experiment and collaborate;<\/p>\n

– willing to take an active role in shaping current developments in the performing arts\u00a0field.<\/p>\n

The programme offers<\/strong><\/p>\n

– small-scale,\u00a0flexible,\u00a0laboratory setup that supports student-driven trajectories;<\/p>\n

– supervision by programme director Edit Kaldor and an international team of lecturers;<\/p>\n

– process-based, collaborative focus, studio practice and peer exchange;<\/p>\n

– a curriculum that explores critical methodologies and reflections, including feminist, queer, antiracist and decolonial thinking and practices, participation, community building and activism;<\/p>\n

– working closely with ground-breaking international and local guest artists, curators, community organisers and theoreticians;<\/p>\n

– free tuition for all EU citizens, scholarship opportunities for non-EU applicants.<\/p>\n

The master\u2019s programme is situated in Malm\u00f6, a dynamic and diverse city close to Copenhagen, and easily reachable from several other European cities. This gives students access and chances to broaden their international performing arts network, to find new affinities and initiate future collaborations.<\/p>\n
